Exhibitions in 2024

A graphic image comprising of four individual works of art. The two on the left are by David Durston, the two on the right are by Anita Saunders. The top left image is a painting of a tropical landscape in blue, yellow and green hues. There are two palm trees at either side of the composition. The bottom left image is an abstract painting in similar colours to the top image. Two violet coloured, thick brushstrokes sweep through the painting. The image on the top right is a lino print of three red brown chickens, pecking at a swirling green, yellow and white foregraound. The bottom right image is a painting of a brown otter swimming against swirling blue water.

Force of Nature

'Force of Nature,' an evocative joint exhibition featuring the works of  former teacher and student, David Durston and Anita Saunders.

This show celebrates their profound connection to landscape and nature through painting and traditional printmaking.

Though David and Anita had discussed holding a joint exhibition, David’s passing made that dream unfulfilled—until now.

Curated in collaboration with David’s wife, Sue, this exhibition brings together the works of these two artists for the first time. It stands as a tribute to David and a testament to his role as a catalyst for creativity in others.

A long thin image of a painting by Anita Saunders of a young, rich russet coloured fawn, with large eyes and ears, long unsteady legs, black shiny nose and white spots on its back, is on the right. The sky is bright blue behind the fawn. Large cow parsley stalks and stylised leaves form a patterned backdrop to the scene.
