About Me

ABOUT ME

"I love what I do and hope some of the joy I experience when creating it, is shared with you when you look at it"

A little bit of background

Since graduating from Exeter College of Art & Design in the 1980s with a degree in Fine Art, I continued to create and to illustrate numerous children’s books whilst juggling a corporate career.

In 2016 I finally grasped the opportunity to become a full-time artist and I love it.

Today I work from my garden studio in the Wiltshire countryside; its flora and fauna are a constant source of inspiration to me, appearing time and again in my compositions.

What I do and why

I work mainly in oil paint and traditional printmaking methods – linocut, drypoint, mezzotint and screen print. A love of drawing underlies everything I do, so I can often be found scribbling away in my sketch books. It’s mainly British wildlife and farm animals which feature in my work and you’ll see hares, sheep, cattle and chickens popping up time and again.

My aim is to reflect my personal admiration and respect for living things, by creating artworks that capture a sense of their vital spark, to somehow elevate the subject from the ordinary or every day.

I love what I do and hope some of the joy I experience when creating it, is shared with you when you look at it.
